6th
International Conference on
Legionella |
|
Chicago,
Illinois - October 16-20, 2005 |
|
|
| Once again, it is time for the international
community to gather and present for discussion and debate the
most recent data on Legionella and its associated
diseases. Indeed, since the 5 th International Conference held
in 2000 in Ulm, Germany, there have been many important and
novel advances in our understanding of the Legionella
bacterium and Legionnaires’ Disease. The 2005 Conference, to
be held in dynamic downtown Chicago, will cover all aspects of
Legionella, including genetics, physiology,
pathogenesis and ecology, host immunity and susceptibility,
epidemiology and taxonomy, clinical and laboratory diagnosis,
disease treatment, environmental detection, risk assessment,
and disease prevention. Reflective of the remarkable growth in
Legionella research, the 6 th International
Conference has been expanded to last four days and to include
nearly 40 invited lectures, over 100 poster presentations, 3
panel discussions, and numerous opportunities for fostering
scientific collaboration. ASM Press will publish the meeting’s
proceedings in book format. This unique gathering of
microbiologists, physicians, public health officials, and
engineers is the definitive meeting for those interested in
Legionella. |
